How do I access Banner 7?

Using your browser (IE or Firefox), enter the following URL for Banner 7.  You will need to install J2RE plug-in to be able to run Banner 7. Check your PC requirements here.

At Banner login prompt, do I have to enter in the ‘Database’ field?

Yes and No.  You do not need to enter anything if you want to login to the ‘Production Database’.  However, if you plan to login to a different Database - e.g ‘Test Database’, you need to specify the name of the database.

  • prdn - default database (you may leave Database blank)
  • pprd - you need to enter this database name if you want to login to the Test database

How do I obtain Banner account?

If you are a faculty member, director or immediate supervisor, you may directly send email to the database administrator for Banner account setup.  For other staff and student workers, the departmental director or immediate supervisor is the individual authorized to request for Banner account setup. The following information are required in the email:

  • Full Name of the new Banner user
  • La Sierra University ID
  • Specify whether the new Banner user is a student employee or new staff
  • Department name
  • Banner access privileges.  Provide a username in the department whom you want the new Banner user to have similar access or give a list of Banner Forms, Reports and Processes. Access to Banner objects is subject to approval from the owner of the objects - e.g Payroll department personnel may not be permitted to access Finance Objects.

I forgot my Banner password. How do I get in now?

You must email the database administrator to have your Banner password reset.  Alternative contact email.

When I login, I was prompted with this message “Your password has expired”.  What shall I do?

This means your Banner or Oracle password has expired. To get your password reset, email the database administrator.

How do I change my password in Banner?

  • While in Banner, type GUAPSWD and press ‘Enter’
  • Type in your old or current password, then press TAB to the ‘New Oracle Password’ field
  • Enter your new password, then press TAB. Re-enter the new password to confirm
  • Click ‘OK’.  You are done.

Note:  Banner password has to be at 6 characters long where the first character has to be an alphabet.
