Banner 7 System Requirements FAQ:
What are the minimum PC hardware requirements for Banner 7?
LSU IT recommended the following PC configurations:
1. Intel Personal Computer:
- Operating System: WIndows 2000/XP
- Processor: 500 MHz CPU or faster
- Memory: 256 MB RAM (recommended 512 MB)
- HD Space: At least 120MB free disk space
- Monitor: 17 inch or higher capable of displaying resolution of 1024 x 768. LSU recommended display resolution - 1280 x 960.
- Browsers Supported with plug-in J2RE for Windows 1.4.2_06 or higher:
- Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 or higher
- Netscape Navigator 8.0 or higher
- Firefox 1.07 or higher
- Mozilla 1.7 or higher
- Secure Certificate: SSL
- Network: 10/100 Base-T, DSL or Cable Modem
2. MAC
- Operating System: OS X
- Processor: G4 or higher
- Memory: 256 MB or higher
- Monitor: 17 inch or higher with capable displaying resolution of 1024 x 768. LSU recommended display resolution - 1280 x 960.
- Browsers Supported:
- Secure Certificate: SSL
- Network: 10/100 Base-T, DSL or Cable Modem
3. Unix/Linux - for experienced Unix/Linux users only.
- Hardware and OS distributions requirements - nicely configured
- Browsers:
- Linux - Mozilla 1.5 or higher with Sun Java 1.4.2
- Unix 8 or 9 - Netscape Navigator 4.7 or higher with Sun Java 1.4.1
- Known to work on Firefox 1.5 and Mozilla with Java Sun 1.4.2 on various Linux and BSD distributions too.
My Banner 7 screen is too big to fit my monitor screen. Why?
For best viewing area, Banner 7 requires a screen resolutions size of 1024 x 768. You probably have a 15” monitor display. Most 15” and some 17” monitors do not support this resolution size. LSU IT recommended that all departments upgrade their monitors and/or graphic cards that do not support 1024 x 768 size resolutions.

The following image screens will give the idea how Banner 7 will look with different viewing resolutions.
Note: If your monitor is 14”, 15” or 17” and capable of sizing to higher resolutions, the fonts size will dramatically reduced and may be too small to read.
I am a MAC user. Can I still use Banner 7?
Yes but not Mac Classic OS. Oracle and SCT do not support Mac Classic. Please check the configurations needed for Mac to run INB 7.
In Mac using OS X version 10.4.2, fonts are not clear and some characters are missing. Can these be fixed?
By default, INB in Mac, the font is tiny. You may exprience missing characters in Mac browsers such as Safari, Netscape and Firefox. This is a known issue with Java 1.4.2. To resolve this problem turn ON the Smooth All Text in Java Applets setting option. Follow the procedure below:
- Close browser
- Click to open the hard disk icon
- Click to open the APPLICATION icon
- Click to open the UTILITIES folder
- Click to open the JAVA folder
- Click to open the Java 1.4.2 Plugin Settings icon
- Check the check mark in Smooth All Text In Java Applets
- Click APPLY NOW button
- Exit Java Plugin Control Panel and close all other opened windows
- Open your browser and login INB 7
