Overview
The Human Resources Department (HRD), in collaboration with the
Payroll Department, directs the employment and payroll function
for all La Sierra University (LSU) graduate and undergraduate students.
The HRD is dedicated to bringing the best service possible to the
Student Employment Program by offering the students the opportunity
of gaining working experience. The student employment program helps
carry out the daily operations of the institution, while ensuring
compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and policies.
Mission statement
The objective of the Human Resources Department is to provide
standardized practices and procedures for student employment, to
provide a centralized information system for student employment
opportunities, to enhance the awareness of student employment, and
to increase the number and variety of available campus employment
opportunities.
The HRD is committed to hard work and excellence in making information
regarding job postings easily accessible. The HRD has set-up fast
and easy ways to communicate your job openings to our department.
By advertising your job notice with the HRD, you not only reach
a broader audience of qualified student applicants, you provide
all La Sierra University(LSU) students equal and fair access to
student employment opportunities.
Openings are included in the current jobline information.
The jobline is updated weekly, however, it depends on the number
of new and closed postings that we attain. This also determines
whether the jobline is updated sooner than the usual weekly update.
The jobline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing
students the opportunity to become aware of current jobs available
at their convenience.
Once a student has listened to the jobline and found a job listing
to his/her interest, the student may call or visit the HRD for further
information and to complete a student employment application.
The Listing
In the HRD students may also find a listing of all the current
jobs available. This list gives the job opening by department, the
title, and a brief description.
The brief description includes the type of work that is expected
to be performed and the qualifications needed in order to be considered
for the desired position. The description also includes a contact
person and his/her extension.
The listing is updated whenever a new job posting is requested
by any department and/or when a position has been filled.
Off-Campus card postings
The HRD feels that it is important for a student to find a job,
whether it be on-campus or off-campus. For this reason, the HRD
provides off-campus postings.
The off-campus cards are posted next to the on-campus cards on
the same bulletin board immediately located to the left of the HRD
department.
The HRD receives many calls from people interested in finding
a student to do a particular job. These calls are screened by the
HRD personnel. Appropriate job postings are listed on 3X5 pink cards.
Please understand this is a job referral service. The HRD is not
liable for any problems incurred as a result of any job referral.
