GIOVANNI SANTOS
Music educator and freelance trumpet performer in Southern California, is Director of Bands at Loma Linda Academy, a position he has held since 2008. Mr. Santos is also the Adjunct Trumpet Professor at La Sierra University.
Santos has performed nationwide as a soloist and chamber musician, including a solo performance for the 2010 Park City Film Festival Jury Choice for Best Impact in a Musical Score, “Actually, Adieu My Love” by Jay Kim. He has performed as principal trumpet under the direction of noted composers and conductors, including Yasuo Shinozaki, Carl St. Clair, Alfred Reed, Frank Ticheli, and H. Robert Reynolds.
As an educator and conductor, Mr. Santos travels across the United States yearly to perform and conduct for band festivals and clinics. Most recently, he was guest conductor and performer for the Northern New England Conference Music Festival and the Atlantic Union Conference Band Clinic. Mr. Santos recently attended the Northwestern University Conducting and Wind Band Symposium, where he was a conducting student of H. Robert Reynolds, Dr. Timothy Robblee, and Dr. Mallory Thompson.
Mr. Santos is a graduate of La Sierra University (B. Mus) and the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music (MM). Santos was also a scholarship trumpet student at the University of North Texas, College of Music. His main trumpet mentors and instructors were Dr. Richard Hofmann, John Holt, Boyde Hood, and Donald Green.
