Here are two photos of Alexandra López, Spanish minor and honors student who spent eight weeks in Costa Rica living with a Costa Rican family and learning Spanish. In one of the photos she is protecting herself from the rain with a blue umbrella; in the other, she’s using the “poor man’s umbrella,” a large-leafed plant that grows abundantly in Costa Rica.
