Laboratory Information

CHEM 111L, 112L, 113L


Goggles are provided as part of your laboratory fees.


Please purchase the appropriate book BEFORE the first day of class. The textbook is Microscale General Chemistry Laboratory, 2nd ed. by Szafran, Pike, and Foster, ISBN 047120207X. It is available in the bookstore and through many online book retailers but please be careful to not buy a previously used book.


You must purchase a breakage ticket ($20) from the Cashier (lower level of the Administration Building). This breakage ticket is to be turned in to the stockroom by the second lab period, we prefer it be turned in the first day lab meets.


If you check into a locker you must check out no later than the final day that lab meets, even if you drop the class! If you do not check out of your locker on time a $5 fee will be charged.


You will be required to complete a Safety Quiz in Moodle as part of your lab grade. Please attend the first class period to obtain the enrollment key.

Lecture Information

CHEM 111, 112, 113


You must be eligible for MATH 121 in order to enroll in CHEM 111. Exceptions are NOT granted.


You must have passed CHEM 111 with a C or better to enroll in CHEM 112; you must have passed CHEM 112 with a C or better to enroll in CHEM 113. Exceptions are NOT granted.


The laboratory course is a required co-requisite for the lecture.


The required textbook is Chemistry & Chemical Reactivity, 7th Edition; Kotz, Treichel, Townsend ISBN: 0495387037. If you are interested in purchasing the e-book or individual e-chapters you can do so at http://www.ichapters.com and search using the above ISBN.
