Laboratory Information

CHEM 101L, 102L, 103L


Goggles are provided as part of your laboratory fees.


Please purchase the appropriate book BEFORE the first day of class.
The lab textbook for each quarter is a separate custom lab manual available only from the LSU bookstore.


You must purchase a breakage ticket ($20) from the Cashier (lower level of the Administration Building). This breakage ticket is to be turned in to the stockroom by the second lab period, we prefer it be turned in the first day lab meets.


If you check into a locker you must check out no later than the final day that lab meets, even if you drop the class! If you do not check out of your locker on time a $5 fee will be charged.


You will be required to complete a Safety Quiz in Moodle as part of your lab grade. Moodle is the online course management system used by the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department La Sierra University. It can be accessed through the link above, see instructor for enrollment key.

Lecture Information

CHEM 101, 102, 103


You must be eligible for MATH 007 in order to enroll in CHEM 101. Exceptions are NOT granted.


You must have passed CHEM 101 with a C or better to enroll in CHEM 102; you must have passed CHEM 102 with a C or better to enroll in CHEM 103. Exceptions are NOT granted.


The laboratory course is a required co-requisite for the lecture.


The required textbook is "Introduction to General, Organic, and Biochemistry" 9th edition, by Bettelheim, Brown, Campbell, Farrell published by Thomson, Brooks/Cole. The bookstore sells a bundled edition that includes homework access; if you purchase used please see below for ordering homework access.


Homework is completed on-line and you will need access to this system in order to complete this course.
If you buy a new textbook from the bookstore this access is included.
Please note that new book sales through any other retailer do NOT include this access.
