Education
Dr. Kaiser's academic degrees come from McGill University in Montréal, Canada (B.Sc. in Marine Biology, 1988; Ph.D. in Zoology 1993). He subsequently completed postdoctoral fellowships at Würzburg University, Germany (cytogenetics of leptodactylid and dendrobatid frogs) and La Sierra University (systematics of neotropical rocket frogs, genus Colostethus). He has been a faculty member here since 1997.

Research Interests
Dr. Kaiser is a broadly interested student of evolution, with publications ranging from sponges to fossil lizards, and from nematode parasites to snake skulls. His main research interest lies in the diversity of amphibians and reptiles on tropical islands. For the past decade, Dr. Kaiser's research has focused on the systematics and biogeography of frogs in the genera Eleutherodactylus and Colostethus, in particular on the link between Eastern Caribbean island frog populations and those on the South American mainland. He has more recently begun investigating the herpetofauna of the Península de Paria in northeastern Venezuela and, with his colleague Lee Grismer, the herpetofaunas of Roatán, Honduras, and of Pulau Tioman, West Malaysia.
