Education
Dr. Joseph graduated with a BA degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from La Universidad Adventista de Las Antillas, Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He received his MS degree in Human Anatomy from Loma Linda University Graduate School, Loma Linda, CA. He earned his Ph.D. degree in the Biomedical Sciences from The Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA.

Research Interests
Dr. Joseph’s general interest is in biomedical science research with special interest in the biology of bone cells. His current research is in signal transduction mechanisms that regulate bone formation and mineralization in an osteosarcoma (bone cancer) cell line (UMR 106-01 BSP). He also researches the mechanisms that mediate the effects of oxidative stress on osteoblasts. Outcomes of his current research will enable approaches designed to prevent or mitigate bone loss due to prolonged bed rest, space flight, osteoporosis and other disorders of bone.

Awards
Dr. Joseph was awarded pre-doctoral fellowship from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Lerner Research Institute, Department of Biomedical Engineering, through the Graduate Program in the Biomedical Sciences of The Morehouse School of Medicine. He was also a NASA-sponsored student of The Space Medicine and Life Sciences Research Center at The Morehouse School of Medicine.

Current Duties
Dr. Joseph teaches upper division courses in Human Gross Anatomy, Histology and Undergraduate Research. He teaches lower division courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology and Undergraduate Research.
