LA SIERRA FOR FIRST VICTORY
AGAINST
THE GOLDEN EAGLES IN SCHOOL HISTORY..........
The loss of point guard, Sarah Ortega to
season ending surgery affected
La Sierra's fast pace open flow game as
Southwestern stuns LSU 50-41.
The Golden Eagles struggled from the field
shooting 24.1%, 13.3% from
the 3pt. line and 40.7% from the free throw
line.
The Eagles of Southwestern was led by Keri
Beth Faber with 12 points.
La Sierra ends their season with 10-14 record.

A CLOSE ONE IN THE FINAL SECONDS.......
The Women of La Sierra battled to the bitter
end in a hard fought game
aganist the Hawks of San Diego Christian
College coming up just short,
losing 60-57.
Ex-Bellevue CC connection Cambria Smith
(14 points) and Latrina Woods
(17 points) led the way for the Golden Eagles
(10-13).
Senior
point guard Dorchella James led SDCC (9-13)
with 16 points.
La Sierra next game is Saturday, February
16th @ 8:30pm following the
mens game at 6pm. The Ladies play Southwestern
College from Arizona.

PREVAILS AGAINST THE CRUSADERS.......
Audrey Ramos, Cambria Smith and Latrina
Woods combined for 37 points
to lead the Golden Eagles (10-12), defeating
the University of Dallas (11-9)
66-63 at the NCAA Round Robin Independents
Tournament. Senior guard
Jodian Lyn hit two key free throws down
the stretch after taking a charge
against the Crusaders leading scorer Cara
Sczepanski (24 points) fouling
her out of the game in the closing minutes
giving LSU the edge and pulling
out the victory.
La Sierra's next game is Thursday, February
7th @ 7:30pm against San Diego
Christian College.

EAGLES WIN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA INDEPENDENTS
TOURANMENT.....
La Sierra won the first round of the
NCAA Round Robin Independents Tournament
Saturday night at Chapman University defeating
UC Santa Cruz 60-54 in OT.
The Golden Eagles(9-12) was led by Ex-Bellevue
CC (Washington) players, Latrina
Woods ( 21 points) and Cambria Smith (18
points & 8 rebounds) .
UC Santa Cruz (8-13)was led by Kayleigh
Calandri with 20 points & Sarah Adamson
with 20 rebounds.
LSU next game is tommorrow at 1pm against
University of Dallas.

THE GOLDEN EAGLES AGAIN PUT A SCARE INTO
CHAPMAN BUT FALL 59-49....
LSU fought hard but came up short against
the Panthers of Chapman
University Saturday night. Freshmen Kathy
Trujillo led the charge for
La Sierra with 8 boards and 9 points before
suffering a leg injury with
5 minutes left in the game and did not return.
Audrey Ramos led the team in scoring with
13 points. Sarah Ortega
running the offense and destroying Chapman's
pressure defense added
9 points also.
The Panthers of Chapman (15-3) was led by
All-American Nicole Hayman
with 16 points.
La Sierra (8-12) next game is on Saturday,
February 2nd at the UC Santa
Cruz D-3 Independents Tournament being
held @ Chapman University in
Orange, California against UC Santa Cruz
at 7:30pm.

DROUGHT DOOMS THE GOLDEN EAGLES.......
The Hawks from San Diego Christian (6-9)
took it to LSU beating the
Golden Eagles 66-48 Thursday night at Alumni
Pavillion. Point Guard
Dorchella James (13 points), Vernessa Roberts
(12 points & 9 rebounds
and Center Erika Hendrickson ( 10
points & 8 rebounds) was too much
to handle for La Sierra.
La Sierra ( 8-11) was led by Kathy Trujillo
with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles next game is Saturday,
January 19th @ Alumni Pavillion
against NCAA D-3 foe Chapman University
at 7:30pm.

CA.- GOLDEN EAGLES GIVE THE PANTHERS
THE BATTLE OF THEIR LIVES BUT FALL 66-49..
La Sierra gave Chapman University's womens
team all they could handle Saturday
night at Hutton Sports Centre. The defense
of Kathy Trujillo and Latrina Woods
handcuffed NCAA D-3 All-American, Nicole
Hayman and held her 6 points below her
average (18 points). With the game tied
at 26 points apiece at halftime, Chapman
went
on 20-4 run after 3 minutes into the
2nd half and LSU could not recover. Trujillo
led the
Golden Eagles with 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Hayman led Chapman (14-3) with 12 points
and 3 assists.
La Sierra (8-10) play Thursday, January
17th at 7:30pm @ Alumni Pavillion
against San Diego Christian College.

CA.- LA SIERRA DEFEATS
POMONA PITZER THE 2ND TIME AROUND.........
After
losing to the Sagehens on November 29th
in OT, the Golden
Eagles(8-9)struck hard and quick Monday
night beating Pomona Pitzer
81-50.
Point Guard Latrina Woods (19 points) and
freshmen Kathy
Trujillo (12 points) took charge of the
game keeping the Sagehens
off balance all night. Woods also led the
team in rebounding with
11, assists with 5 along with 3 steals.
Trujillo led the team with 4
steals and also had 5 rebounds, and 4 assists
Pomona Pitzer was led by Rosa
Lee with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles next game is Saturday,
January 12th @ Chapman
University in Orange, California at 7pm.

DEFEATS SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE 64-57.....
The LSU womens team beat the Eagles
of Southwestern College Saturday

night 64-57. The Golden Eagles (7-9)
was led by forward Jennifer Young
with 17 points and 9 rebounds.
Latrina Woods had 16 points and 9 rebounds
also to help toward the win.
Southwestern (2-10) was led by Catlin Forrest
with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
La Sierra next game is Monday, January 7th
at 7:30pm @ Pomona Pitzer College.

ST. JOSEPH COLLEGE AT 2nd ANNUAL HOLIDAY
TOURANMENT...
The Golden Eagles (6-7) defeated St. Joseph
College of New York 73-43.
Reserve senior guard Jodian Lyn came off
the bench to score 24 points
to lead LSU. Audrey Ramos (11 points) and
Jennifer Young 13 points) also
contribute to the win. Freshmen point guard
Sarah Ortega dished out 8 assists.
St.
Joesph was led by Annamarie Ciorciarri with
14 points and 9 rebounds.
La Sierra plays San Diego Christian College
tommorrow at 3pm for the
championship @ Alumni Pavillion.

CA.- LA SIERRA STUN BY SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN
IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.......
The Hawks of SDCC (4-6) defeated the Golden
Eagles 68-52 in the 2nd Annual
Holiday Tournament championship game. MVP
Lara Hertzog of the tournament
led San Diego Christian with 12 points and
8 rebounds. She also got help from
team mates, Courtney Ash (20 points) and
Dorchella James (19 points).
The Golden Eagles (6-8) was led by Latrina
Woods with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
La Sierra next game is Thursday, January
3rd against University of La Verne
in La Verne, California at 7:30pm.
