RIVERSIDE, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES PLAY TOUGH BUT COMES UP SHORT AGAINST UCSC.......

La Sierra University was defeated by UC Santa Cruz 106-97 Saturday night at Alumni Pavillion.

De Paul Williams led LSU with 24 points and Miles Robbins had 23 points and 6 assists.

Ted Monson 22 points led UC Santa Cruz for the final game of the season for both teams.

FEBRUARY 27, 2009

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   CHAPMAN DEFEATS UC SANTA CRUZ IN SECOND ROUND OF D-3 TOURNAMENT....

Jared Kaiser and Justin Riley had 17 points apiece to lead Chapman to victory, 77-59. Ryan Matsuoka

had 18 points for UC Santa Cruz.

LA Sierra plays UC Santa Cruz tommorrow night at 7:30pm.

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES LOSE IN THE ROUND ROBIN NCAA TOURNAMENT....

Chapman University defeated La Sierra University in the first round of the three day NCAA D-3

Round Robin Independent Tournament Thursday night at Alumni Pavillion, 74-48.

Griffin Ramme led Chapman with 18 points.

Andrew Grooms led La Sierra with 10 points. Ex-Etiwanda High player, DePaul Williams had 8

points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals.

The Golden Eagles play again Saturday, February 28th @ 7pm against UC Santa Cruz.

 

LA SIERRA UNIVERSITY HOSTING THE 2008-2009 NCAA MEN INDEPENDENT PLAYOFF TOURNAMENT...

LSU was named the site to host the 2008-2009 NCAA Independent Men's Basketball Playoffs.  

The format will be a Round Robin Tournament featuring NCAA D-3 teams from the Independent

 Conference: Chapman University, UC Santa Cruz and host La Sierra University.

Games times will be the following:

Thursday, February 26, 2009-  Chapman University vs La Sierra University @ 7pm

Friday, February 27, 2009- UC Santa Cruz vs Chapman University @ 3pm

Saturday, February 28, 2009- La Sierra University vs UC Santa Cruz @ 7pm

All games will be held at the Alumni Pavillion in Riverside, California.

 

FEBRUARY 12, 2009

LANCASTER, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES END THE SEASON WITH A VICTORY......

La Sierra University (4-20) ended the season on a winning note defeating West Coast Baptist

College in a thriller, 71-70. The Golden Eagles end the season winning three of the last four

games this year.

 

FEBRUARY 3, 2009

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   NOGA HAS LSU'S OFFENSE UP AND RUNNING TO NOTCH BASKETBALL WIN.....

Danny Noga scored 18 points and added 9 rebounds to lead La Sierra University (3-20) over

West Coast Baptist College,77-64. The Golden Eagles had 5 players in double figures, hitting 57

percent from the field in the second half. Josh Zonker had a double-double with 16 points and 11

rebounds.

LSU next game is Thursday, February 12th against West Coast Baptist College @ 7:30pm in

Lancaster, California.

 

JANUARY 29, 2009

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   CHAPMAN DEFEATS LA SIERRA AGAIN.......

The Golden Eagles (2-20) was defeated Thursday night by Chapman University 78-58.

Panthers forward, Kyle Wood led Chapman with 24 points.

LSU was led by University of Idaho transfer, Miles Robbins with 24 points.

La Sierra's next game is Tuesday, February 3rd against West Coast Baptist College at 7:30 pm @home.

 

JANUARY 25, 2009

SANTA CRUZ, CA.-   LA SIERRA SHOCKS UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS......

The Golden Eagles (2-19) ended their 19 game losing streak upsetting, University of Dallas

73-71. LSU was led by DePaul Williams with 16 points. University of Idaho transfer, Miles

Robbins added 15 points and Josuha Crouch had 12 points and 7 rebounds.

LSU next game is Thursday, January 29th @ home against Chapman University at 7:30 pm.

 

JANUARY 24, 2009

SANTA CRUZ, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES LOSE 2ND ROUND  CONTEST........

Host UC Santa Cruz defeated La Sierra University (1-19) Saturday night, 93-74.

Joshua Zonker led LSU with 19 points and 10 rebounds. LSU leading scorer, Daniel

Noga had 15 points.

LSU next game is tommorrow against University of Dallas.

 

JANUARY 23, 2009

SANTA CRUZ, CA.-   LSU LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE UCSC TOURNAMENT..........

Chapman University defeated La Sierra University (1-18 ) Friday afternoon, 69-59.

The Golden Eagles was led by Daniel Noga with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

LSU next game is tommorrow against UC Santa Cruz.

 

JANUARY 15, 2009

ORANGE, CA.-   THE PANTHERS HANDS LA SIERRA 17TH STRAIGHT LOSS.......

Chapman University defeated the Golden Eagles (1-17) Thursday night, 73-52.

Nicholas Wong had 13 points and Joshua Crouch added 10 points for LSU.

La Sierra's next game is Friday, January 23rd in the UC Santa Cruz Tournament .

 

JANUARY 10, 2009

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   VASSAR COLLEGE DEFEATS LA SIERRA 61-53.........

The Golden Eagles (1-16) was handed another loss by Vassar College of New York, Saturday

night, 61-53 at Alumni Pavillion. With a packed house, LSU fought hard only to come up short to

a tough Vassar team.

La Sierra was led by DePaul Williams with 17 points and Josh Zonker came off the bench to give

LSU solid play with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

Vassar College was led by Caleb McGraw with 16 points.

The Golden Eagles next game is Thursday, January 15th, at 7 pm against Chapman University

in Orange, California.

JANUARY 7, 2009

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   POMONA PITZER HANDS LA SIERRA ANOTHER LOSS......

The Golden Eagles (1-15) was defeated Wednesday night by Pomona Pitzer College, 86-56 at

Alumni Pavillion.

LSU next game will be Saturday, January 10th at 8 pm against Vassar College from New York

at Alumni Pavillion.

 

JANUARY 5, 2009

CLAREMONT, CA.-   CMS TROUNCES LA SIERRA.......

The Golden Eagles (1-14) were defeated by Claremont Mudd-Scripps College Monday night

92-59. LSU was led by Senior guard Andrew Allado with 12 points. La Sierra's leading

scorer, Daniel Noga was held to 5 points.

CMS was led by Michael Bagby with 17 points.

La Sierra's next game is Wednesday, January 7th at home against Pomona Pitzer College @ 6 pm.

 

JANUARY 4, 2009

WHITTIER, CA.-   LA SIERRA SUFFERS ANOTHER DEFEAT.............

The Golden Eagles (1-13) was defeated Sunday evening in the Whittier Classic, 84-56

by Chapman University.

LSU next game is Monday, January 5th against Claremont Mudd-Scripps College at 7:30 pm

in Claremont, California.

 

JANUARY 3, 2009

WHITTIER, CA.-   THE POETS HAND LA SIERRA ANOTHER LOSS......

The Poets of Whittier College defeated La Sierra University (1-12) Saturday night, 82-60 in the

Whittier Classic Tournament.

The Golden Eagles next game is Sunday, Januuary 4th at 6 pm in Whittier,California.

 

DECEMBER 31, 2008

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES LOSE TO THE BULLDOGS....

University of Redlands defeated La Sierra University (1-11) 74-48 Wednesday afternoon at

Alumni Pavillion. The Bulldogs were led by Matt Dietrich with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by Daniel Noga with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

LSU next game is Saturday, January 3rd in the Whittier Tournament.

 

DECEMBER 18, 2008

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   THE TIGERS OF OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE DEFEATS LA SIERRA.....

Occidental College defeated the Golden Eagles (1-10) Thursday night, 67-56.

Oxy was led by David Ostrow with 15 points.

La Sierra were led by Joshua Crouch and Andrew Grooms who scored 12 and 11

points respectively. After hitting 5-for 11 three-pointers in the first half, the Tigers defense

held LSU to just 1-6 from long range in the second half. La Sierra shot 42.9% from the field.

La Sierra next game is Wednesday, December 31st @ 2 pm against University of Redlands.

 

DECEMBER 13, 2008

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES LOSE TO THE STAGS AT HOME......

La Sierra University (1-9) was defeated Saturday night by Claremont Mudd-Scripps College

78-45 at Alumni Pavillion.

LSU next game is Thursday, December 18th at 7:30 pm against Occidental College at home.

THOUSAND OAKS, CA.-   LSU DROPS ANOTHER  TO CAL LUTHERAN.....

The Golden Eagles (1-8) was defeated Thursday night by the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran

University 78-57 at CLU Gymnasium.

La Sierra next game is Saturday, December 13th against Claremont Mudd-Scripps College

@ home at 7:30 pm.

DECEMBER 6, 2008

LA VERNE, CA.-   THE LEOPARDS STICK IT TO THE GOLDEN EAGLES...............

University of La Verne defeated La Sierra University(1-7) Saturday night 91-67.

Tyler Hoyt led the Leopards with 14 points and Kyle Luhnow & Billy Nicolini had

12 points apiece.

La Sierra was led by DePaul Williams with 15 points. Joshua Crouch had 14 points.

Leading scorer Daniel Noga nursing an injured ankle, was held to zero points.

LSU next game is Thursday, December 11th at 7:30 pm against Cal Lutheran University

at Alumni Pavillion.

 

DECEMBER 4, 2008

WHITTIER, CA.-   THE POETS DEFEAT LA SIERRA UNIVERSITY 89-73........

Whittier College defeated the Golden Eagles (1-6) Thursday night at Graham Athletic Center

89-73. Whittier was led by Marcus Gibson with 23 points.

La Sierra got another great outing from junior guard Daniel Noga with 25 points, 6 rebounds

and 2 steals. Guard Joshua Crouch chipped in 16 points.

LSU next game is Saturday, December 6th against the University of La Verne @ 7:30 pm.

REDLANDS, CA.-   THE BULLDOGS DEFEAT THE GOLDEN EAGLES  87-68......

University of Redlands defeated La Sierra University (1-5) last night at Currier Gym 87-68.

The Bulldogs was led by Bryan Schwartz with 17 points and 6 rebounds.

La Sierra was led by Daniel Noga with 17 points and Joshua Crouch with 16 points.

LSU next game will be Thursday, December 4th at 7:30 pm @ Whittier College in

Whittier, California.

 

NOVEMBER 24, 2008

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES GIVE NAIA'S NO.5th RANKED CAL BAPTIST A BATTLE......

La Sierra University (1-4) on the strength of 8 second-half 3 pointers, the Golden Eagles made it a game tonight, but still came up short losing 87-72 Monday night. The Lancers All-American forward,

Mark Roussin led all players with 23 points and a carreer-high 17 rebounds.

" They (La Sierra) played well tonight, much better than us tonight " said CBU Head Coach Tim Collins.

"They played much better than they have in the past against us. Frankly, they out -hustled us and

out-played us all night, and we were fortunate to get away with a win.

LSU was led by 6' 5 guard Daniel Noga with 19 points. Guard Joshua Crouch added 16 points, 4

rebounds and 3 steals.

La Sierra's next game is tommorrow, Tuesday, November 25th at the University of Redlands @ 7:30pm.

 

NOVEMBER 22, 2008

THOUSAND OAKS, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES DROPS THIRD GAME IN A ROW.......

La Sierra University (1-3) was defeated Saturday night by the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran

University 76-52 at Gilbert Arena.

The Kingsmen was led by Aaron Fisher with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

La Sierra was led by reserve Joshua Zonker with 12 points and 4 rebounds.

LSU next game is Monday, November 24th against Cal Baptist University in Riverside, Ca.

at 7:30 pm.

 

NOVEMBER 19, 2008

RIVERSIDE, CA.-   THE LEOPARDS  DOMINATES INSIDE TO STOP LSU......

The University of La Verne defeated La Sierra University (1-2) last night at Alumni Pavillion

91-76. The Leopards was led by senior Kyle Luhnow with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

La Verne out rebounded the Golden Eagles 40-24 on the boards.

The Golden Eagles got an outstanding performance from 6' 5 junior guard Danny Noga as he

 led the team with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.

LSU next game is Saturday, November 22nd @ Cal Lutheran University at 7:30 pm.

 

NOVEMBER 18, 2008

EAGLE ROCK, CA.-   LSU LOSE TO THE TIGERS OF OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE......

The Golden Eagles of La Sierra University (1-1) was defeated last night in a tight game

by Occidental College, 54-51 at the newly renovated Rush Gymnasium.

6' 10 post player, Sean Anderson of Oxy's was 8-10 from the field and 6-7 from the ft.

throw line to tally 22 points which led all players. Anderson also pulled down seven boards

for the Tigers while recording four blocks leading the team to victory.

La Sierra was led by 6' 5 guard Daniel Noga with 12 points and Joshua Crouch with 10 points.

Noga also led all LSU players with eight rebounds.

LSU next game is Wednesday, November 19th at home against University of LaVerne at 7:30 pm.

  

NOVEMBER 15, 2008

PASADENA, CA.-   THE GOLDEN EAGLES WINS SEASON OPENER.........

LaSierra University (1-0) under first year coach, Derek Robbins started

2008-2009 season off with a victory against the Beavers of Cal Tech

79-64. LSU next game is Tuesday, November 18th @ Occidental College

at 7:30 pm.

 

LA SIERRA UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES 2008-2009 SEASON PREVIEW

Former AAU and Corona High coach Derek Robbins takes over the program and has just one returning starter at his disposal from a team that won just five games a season ago.

Andrew Grooms, a sophmore averaged six points per game last season but will need to have his output

increase this season to help compensate for some inexperience as the Golden Eagles moves to a more up-tempo offense.

Top returning players to help Grooms will be senior guards, Joshua Crouch and Andrew Allado.

LSU top newcomers will be incoming freshmen, Joseph Paea who was California's CIF top rebounder

in high school and ranked 3rd in the nation averaging 21.3 rebounds per game.

Freshmen guard, DePaul Williams from CIF powerhouse Etiwanda High will be a key player along with

Fullerton College transfer, 6' 5 guard Daniel Noga ,Chaparral High, power forward Jacob Pino and 6'5

Joshua Zonker from Riverside Christian High School.
