General Admissions Standards:
It is the purpose of the Admissions Committee to accept applicants
who are qualified for their proposed curriculum and seem likely
to profit from the educational experience. The Undergraduate Admissions
Committee examines evidence of scholastic competence, moral and
ethical standards, and significant qualities of character and personality.
A student applying by transferring from another college or university
must file with the Admissions Office complete transcripts of all
studies taken at the secondary and college levels. A cumulative
college grade point average of 2.00 is required. A transfer student
is defined as a person who has completed 12 quarter units (8 semester)
of transferable college credit.
If appropriate college English and College Algebra classes have not been
completed, LSU placement testing will be required before registration. If
required based on test scores, remedial courses must be completed within
12 months of initial enrollment.
International applicants need a score of 550 on the Test of English
as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and/or an equated score of 90 on the
Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency (MTELP) for placement
into regular academic courses. If either score is below these levels,
ESL courses will be provided and required.
