Coding Computational Thinking

Simply put, coding is also called “Computational Thinking,” where we teach kids through online curriculum and activities, how to solve problems or create solutions involving programming a computer, to generate the desired results in a wide variety of careers which involves technology.

We teach Coding to all students for the following reasons:

  1. We want our students to think logically and acquire a computational thinking mindset.
  2. We want to prepare our students for the 21st Century, where high demand skills, such problem solving is a valuable skill.
  3. We want our students to develop high demand skills, early in their education and one of these is solving complex problems.

Creativity is important when applying computational thinking principles to a problem.

You may be asking if Coding is related to math (something we struggle to teach, and in our culture, and an area of low academic achievement). Learning to Code will make a student better at math by developing the skills to creatively solve problems, according to the research. Computational thinking skills – are a key skill in the digital age.

Our goal is to develop robust thinking skills in our kids while they are being creative, and collaborative in the context of helping them become critical problem solvers in Christian education.

Our pilot schools, teach computational thinking at all grade levels.

How often will this be taught at the local school level: We see this Coding class happening at least once a week, for a period during the school day.
