This week is Peace Week and University Worship, taking place on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 11AM in the University Church, will have a special guest speaker. Paula Cripps, a peace activist, will be here speaking to our campus about Faith, Immigration, and Our Lives.
Click to read more about Pastor Roy IceThe Rev. Paula Cripps is a pastor with the United Methodist Church who has a passion for issues of social and economic justice. She is currently lead organizer for Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice of Los Angeles, Inland Empire chapter which includes Riverside and San Bernardino counties and Pomona Valley. She functions as the lead organizer of the interfaith religious community for the New Sanctuary Movement and the Residential Laborers Campaign and brings low wage workers and undocumented immigrants into relationships with religious communities. She teaches in various settings about faith-rooted community organizing, public policy change, and advocacy for low-wage workers and immigrant rights. She leads worship services focused on the Christian's responsibility to these forgotten and neglected people in our society.
Her topic on Wednesday night's Rendezvous worship is "God's Heart for Transformation: Economic Justice." On Thursday morning, she will speak on "Faith, Immigration, and Our Lives." Pastor Cripps holds a Masters of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology in Urban Ministries, Latino/a Ministries, and Public Policy & Religion.
