Qualifications
for Receiving Free Tutoring
Each student must be a currently registered LSU student during the current
quarter. Our mission statement shows that we support mainly freshman and
sophmore students, not graduate students. If you are a graduate student,
ask your teacher or department chair whether tutors have been hired for
you.
What's
Offered
Tutoring
is offered in mainly freshmen level courses, focusing on math and English
but including calculus, physics, and chemistry.
No Appointments
Necessary
All tutoring sessions are on a walk-in basis. This means that if
you need tutoring, just come to La Sierra Hall Suite 100 or call (951)
785-2453 to find out when tutoring is available for your class. Come in
and get as much help as you need. When you come into the center, simply
ask the person at the front desk to help you locate a tutor, or you may
read the white board in the hallway to find out which room the tutor for
your subject is in.
What if
Tutors Are Not Available When I Am?
If tutoring is either not available in a particular class or during a
time when you can meet, come by and speak with the director, Tammy Tucker.
What to
Expect When You Come for Tutoring
Have your homework done prior to the tutoring appointment. Tutors are
not permitted to do a student's homework. If you need further explanation
or clarification of a process or theory, do as much of your homework as
possible before the appointment. Also, we do not allow students to drop
off papers for review or correction by a tutor. To get help, you must
be present and working with the tutor.
Please
be prepared to sign in with your ID number.
When you leave, don't forget to sign out.
