How
do I know if I have to take a placement test?
All
incoming La Sierra University students are required to take the math and
English placement test before registering for classes, unless they have
already completed College Algebra and/or College English with a grade of
C or better.
The placement testing is given in our testing center here on
campus. The tests will be part of the 2 day summer orientation for
freshman. Please call 951-785-2499 to schedule your orientation
during July or August. Transfer students please contact the director
at 951-785-2453 or elowry@lasierra.edu to schedule an appointment.

Placement Testing for Freshmen:

First, submit your ACT/SAT scores to LSU admissions.
If you haven't taken an ACT or SAT you may take the national
test (see links above) or sign up for our Residual (scores good
only at LSU) ACT test, which is only given in the summer.

Next, call (951)785-2499 to
schedule your 2 day summer orientation, which includes testing.You
must have an appointment to take the test. If you are unsure
whether you need a placement test or which placement test(s)
you need, please call (951)785-2453 or email elowry@lasierra.edu.

On the day of your scheduled test(s), bring
a photo id (driver's license, passport, or school id) to our
testing center in the lower level of La Sierra Hall. We provide
scratch paper and pencil. The test is on computer with some
questions allowing a pop up calculator on the computer.

Placement Testing
Accuplacer:
The Accuplacer Reading Comprehesion Test is a multiple-choice reading
comprehension test. It is done on the computer and has no time limit.
The Accuplacer Sentence Skills Test is a multiple choice test on
the computer also with no time limit. The results of these tests
will place the student into remedial English or the regular College
English level course.

Placement Testing
Accuplacer:
The accuplacer Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, and the College Level
Mathematics tests are multiple-choice tests given on the computer
with no time limits. A calculator function is on the computer and
available for select problems. The results of the test will place
the student into Introductory Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College
Algebra, Trig, or Calculus.
