February 7-10, 2008 - National University
Experience Weekend
The mountains. The beaches. La Sierra University is wedged artfully between
the two. So when you decide to venture out, expect plenty of sunshine as we
tour the campus, classrooms and California.
Thursday, February 7
Guests should plan to arrive between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Register in
the administration building as soon as you arrive.
Friday, February 8
Starting at 8:30 a.m., rub shoulders with our staff and students while you
study the campus, visit classes and cruise the different departments. Along
the way, you’ll discover extensive information about our admissions
process and financial aid packaging. Then, we crammed the afternoon with
free T-shirts, scholarships, and prizes you won’t want to miss! Later you’ll
enjoy two hours of free time to explore our beautiful campus and hang out
with friends. In the evening, you’re invited to First Service, our contemporary
worship complete with live bands. Follow the crowd over to the Eagle's Nest
Café afterwards for hot drinks to end your day.
Saturday, February 9
Start the morning with church, then join us for a group lunch. We’re taking an
afternoon trip to either the beach, park or a museum in Los Angeles. Our
evening tour of the L.A. sights includes dinner on the town and plenty of photo stops.
little things like food and lodging
Rest assured that while you’re here, we provide all meals for our guests. And
your parents will probably want to make sure you’ll have a roof over your
head, so let them know you’ll be staying in the on-campus dormitories during
your stay. Just don’t forget your sleeping bag.
About money
The fee for the weekend of La Sierra University entertainment and information
is $60, payable upon your registration when you arrive. This one-time fee
includes your meals, lodging and entertainment while you’re our guest. Tours
of Riverside and L.A., as well as the trip to Disneyland, are covered by La Sierra University. Remember to bring some spending money, as we will be touring Los Angeles and Disneyland, where souvenirs are definitely in order.
To get here from there
We suggest flying into the Ontario, CA, airport on Thursday afternoon if you’re
plane-bound. Otherwise, Riverside has stops for both Amtrak and Greyhound.
La Sierra University provides free shuttle service between our campus and
any of these locations, just let us know when you’re coming. Two weeks prior
to the event, please fax your travel itinerary to 951-785-2418, Attention: Sherri
Dart.
If you are unable to find a plane ticket for $250 or less, call Enrollment
Services at 951-785-2422. If you let us know more than three weeks prior to
your flight date, we will search for cheap tickets for you. We even reimburse
students for airline tickets that cost more than $250. (For example, if your
ticket cost $300, La Sierra University would pay the additional $50 over the
$250, but you must request this service at least three weeks in advance.)
To find our campus from your car, please refer to our online campus map and written directions or call us for pointers
(951-785-2422).
(Please plan to arrive on Thursday, February 7th after 5:00pm / Event begins 8:30 AM on Friday, February 8th. Preview weekend for academy/high school juniors and seniors outside of Southern California or more than 100 miles from La Sierra University)
