L.A. guitarist Jacques Lesure to perform at Troesh

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Award-winning Los Angeles guitarist and educator Jacques Lesure will bring his talent to the stage in the next Pierce Street Jazz concert at La Sierra University.

The performance will be held at 7 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 16 at Troesh Conference Center in La Sierra’s Zapara School of Business. Jazz artists Henry “the Skipper” Franklin, bass, Theo Saunders, piano, and Ramon Banda, drums, will join Lesure in the performance. Admission is free.

Throughout his 30-year career, Lesure, a native of Detroit, Mich., has performed with a roster of notable musicians and in top-tier venues and festivals. He appeared in the 2014 film short, “David’s Reverie,” and most recently as a club jazz guitarist in the Academy Award-winning feature film and musical “La La Land.” His musical stylings are founded in blues, gospel and jazz, according to his bio.

Lesure’s recording projects include three albums under the WJ3 Records label. A new release is scheduled this month titled “For the Love of You,” his website states.Lesure’s educational activities include serving as a mentor to up and coming young talent. More formally, his titles include musical director for the Living Legends Foundation, president of the African-American Jazz Caucus, and artist/teacher for the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. He also an author, motivational speaker and radio/podcast host.
