Grammy-winning soprano to perform Mother’s Day fundraising concert

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – World-renowned soprano and Grammy award-winner Ana María Martínez will perform a scholarship fundraising concert at La Sierra University on Sunday, May 13 at 4 p.m. The event is presented by the S&B Foundation and will raise scholarship funds for students. 

Martínez, considered to be one of the world’s foremost sopranos, has pursued an international career that spans the most important opera houses and concert halls. Her schedule this season has included playing the title role in Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” with the Los Angeles Opera and will include appearances this summer as Alice Ford in Giuseppe Verdi’s “Falstaff” at the Royal Opera House in London.

She is a graduate of The Juilliard School with bachelor’s and Master of Music degrees and is an alumna of the Houston Grand Opera Studio. Her numerous awards include the Pepita Embil Award at the 1995 Operalia II, first prize in the 1994 Eleanor McCollum Auditions and Awards from Houston Grand Opera, and first place district and first place regional winner and national finalist in the 1993 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
